At the height of Florida ‘s early land boom, Joseph Young opened the Hollywood Beach Hotel in 1925 as the crown of his new city Hollywood by the Sea. The Hollywood Florida Beach resort was designed in the Mediterranean Revival style popularized by Addison Mizner, the famed society architect of The Breakers in Palm Beach , FL and George Merrick, the founder of Coral Gables and its famed Biltmore Hotel. Young envisioned a Royal Palm lined avenue leading over the Intercostal Waterway as an entrance to his beachfront resort hotel.
The Hollywood Beach Hotel received celebrity status as one of the great resort hotels of the period.
